Ensuring long-term protection for our residents

The City of Inglewood government ensures long-term protection for Inglewood residents through Ordinance 20-03, the Housing Protection Initiative. After Inglewood rents began to rise in response to development, the city government took action. The Ordinance prevents rent on multi-family complexes from being raised more than 5% per year plus the percentage change in cost-of-living increase or 10%, whichever is lower. The effects of this Ordinance allow long-term Inglewood renters to remain in affordable housing while enjoying the benefits of Inglewood development. The City Government is also launching a Housing Protection Department to enforce rent regulations and ensure equitable and efficient services.
